Brief information: Corona short-time work scheme ends at the end of March 2022
Due to the recovery of the domestic labour market, Corona short-time work will expire for particularly affected businesses at the end of March 2022. For such companies, a 100 percent cost reimbursement was even possible. The maximum duration of the use of regular short-time work will be extended by two months (from 24 to 26 months).
Accordingly, businesses that have been making use of the COVID-19 short-time working scheme since the start of the COVID-19 crisis can switch to the standard short-time working scheme by the end of May – this scheme is set to expire at the end of June 2022. The two-month extension is intended to provide planning certainty, as many businesses (e.g. in the nightlife, events, air travel and city hotel sectors) are unable to phase out short-time working as quickly as planned due to the Delta and Omicron waves. Standard short-time working provides for a reduction of 15 % compared with the COVID-19 short-time working scheme. Regardless of whether COVID-19 short-time working or standard short-time working is utilised, employees receive between 80 and 90 % of their salary during the period of short-time working.
