Switching from mobile phone signature to ID Austria
For current users of the mobile signature or the citizen card – for example, for service providers – the necessary transition to ID Austria is required. According to a recent ÖGK information, relevant e-services of the ÖGK, such as WEBEKU, ELDA or the e-delivery service, can still only be accessed using ID Austria. Put in a more positive light, ID Austria provides access to the entire range of digital services offered by the social insurance, administration and business sectors. Specifically, with ID Austria (with full functionality), "Digital Government Services", the "Electronic Post Office", the "Electronic Signature" and "Digital Identifiers" (which can be used to, for example, present the driver's license on a smartphone) can be accessed.
The ID Austria is available in two variants - the one with full functionality and the one with basic functionality:
- The ID Austria with full functionality can only be used by those whose mobile phone signature has already been registered by an authority.
- For users who have not officially registered their mobile phone number with the authorities, it is possible to switch to ID Austria with basic functionality. To be able to use the full functionality of ID Austria, a government registration process is required.
Until now, users of the Citizen Card have to visit a registration authority to switch to ID Austria (even for the basic function). Registration authorities include district offices, magistrates, municipalities, tax offices, and provincial police directorates.
