Current base, deferral, suspension; claim and turnover tax interest rate
The base rate (most recently 3.03 %) is, as is well known, used as a reference rate in a number of contexts. Following the ECB’s cut to the key interest rate, the base rate was also reduced from 3.88 % to 3.03 % in September 2024. With regard to deferral interest, it should be noted that, in accordance with Section 212(2) of the Austrian Federal Tax Code (BAO), deferral interest has been set at 4.5 % above the applicable base rate since 1 July 2024. The corresponding current annual interest rates are set out in the table below. Where the interest amounts do not reach €50, they are not assessed.
