Device Saver Bonus as a successor to the Repair Bonus

From January 2026 – applications can be submitted from 12 January – the Device Rescue Premium will be launched as the successor to the Repair Bonus for the repair of electrical and electronic devices. Only private individuals resident in Austria are eligible for funding, with repair, service and maintenance and/or related cost estimates being eligible for funding if they concern electrical and electronic devices typically used in private households. The relevant device list includes, for example, coffee machines, ovens, dishwashers, kettles, mixers, irons, washing machines and tumble dryers, hearing aids, wheelchairs, monitors, laptops, televisions, video cameras or baby bottle warmers.

The grant per voucher amounts to 50 % of the eligible gross costs and is capped at €130 per repair, service or maintenance job, or at €30 per cost estimate. If, following a subsidised cost estimate, the repair, service or maintenance is carried out at the same workshop (this is a prerequisite), the subsidy per device, including the cost estimate, amounts to a maximum of €130. Eligible costs include labour costs (including travel expenses), material costs and postage costs for orders of materials and spare parts. However, the following are excluded from funding: passenger cars, hybrid and electric cars, e-bikes, smartphones and mobile phones, electrical appliances that require non-renewable energy sources such as natural gas, petrol or diesel, electricity-generating devices that are not themselves powered by electricity, and electrical appliances that are permanently fixed to the building structure.

From an administrative perspective, the funding can be www.device-saver-bonus.at and the voucher must be redeemed within 3 weeks at a participating partner company. If the voucher is not redeemed within the specified period, it automatically expires and a new voucher can be requested immediately thereafter. As a first step, the consumer must pay the entire invoice amount – the subsidy amount will (if successful) be transferred to the applicant's bank account in a second step after submission by the partner company and examination by Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC). Finally, it should be noted that if the "Geräte-Retter-Prämie" is claimed, no further subsidies in Austria or the EU with a similar purpose may be utilised to prevent double subsidisation.
